Our History and Philosophy
In business, success is not
necessarily the key to happiness, but rather happiness is the key to success. I
have always believed that people should be happy with their occupation, why
spend years doing something you don't enjoy? My wife and I initiated our
jewelry business in 1979. Although there have been some days that seemed like a
grind, overall I've always been happy to practice my craft and I thank God for
the success we've enjoyed.
I can also thank our many customers for the trust
they have shown as well as their patronage.I am also grateful for the assistance we have
received over the years from our employees. Our ability to serve South Central
Pennsylvania with a quality jewelry service is directly related to the efforts
of the people who have worked with us in the past and those who assist us
today.
Shaded between tall oak trees, our store was once a private
residence. The modest brick Cape Cod building is easy to miss if you're driving
by on Cornwall Road and many people who step into our cozy showroom for the
first time have said, "I drive by here everyday and I never knew you were
here". However the seemingly quaint, quiet, and comfortable appearance
disguises what is really a dynamic business.
Everyday we are busy with what amounts to two businesses in
one. Our retail store and our goldsmith shop. Although both require different
kinds of effort, together they allow us to offer our customers a unique jewelry
shopping experience. You can peruse our showcases and find lovely pieces in
platinum, 18 karat, 14 karat and sterling silver. We offer both traditional
and unique designs made in our shop as well as those made by other
manufacturers and craftsmen.
 You will
find beautiful wedding sets or fashion rings that are made to last, gold
necklaces and bracelets that are guaranteed, vivid and rich diamonds or colored
gems as well as a fine selection of Fresh Water, Akoya and Tahitian pearls. But
it doesn't stop there. Unlike many stores we offer more than what you see in
our showcases. We are active daily with custom requests and we have the talent
and experience to satisfy those requests.
Our staff includes GIA trained personnel, a college graduate
with a metal arts degree and two technical school graduates trained in jewelry
making. We practice model making, lost wax casting, fabrication, hand engraving
and stone setting as we have over 30 years of experience. Using the tools and
equipment in our shop combined with the talent and ability of our goldsmiths we
create beautiful and well made jewelry every day.
You can select from our Ideal cut diamonds (the most brilliant
diamonds available a nywhere!) or our collection of colored
gemstones in various price ranges. Then our staff will help design your unique
piece. Some customers have specific design ideas. Others hesitate, saying they
have difficulty envisioning a piece to be made. Our job is to assist you
through a step by step process that will become an enjoyable experience and
result in your guaranteed satisfaction. Regardless of the general style of a
custom made piece our goal is always based on three criteria; Beauty,
Longevity, and Comfort.
The one on one process of
designing and producing hand made jewelry is obviously more expensive than mass
produced jewelry. This is one reason why we also offer finished jewelry made by
other quality manufacturers. But there is yet another option which allows you
to have a piece made in our store without the higher cost that the "one of a
kind" process demands. Over the years we have amassed an inventory of
reproduction molds of many styles. With the models from these molds we can use
your gold or ours to cast a new ring or pendant. By choosing an existing model
you lower our shop time. This option allows you a savings as you enjoy the
quality that we guarantee in all of the jewelry that we make.
The
jewelry industry has changed dramatically in the past decade and competition to
sell jewelry from various venues has become intense. For many who are
overwhelmed by confusing ads and information, lower prices become the only
deciding factor. This has caused an erosion of
traditional service and product quality. A few concerns to jewelry consumers
today should be the light weight construction of jewelry that does not endure,
settings that snag fabrics or crack, and diamond prongs that are loose and
improperly finished. Some of the karat gold jewelry being made today is not
repairable and really shouldn't be purchased in the first place. However we do
offer jewelry repair. We have always advertised, "We make and repair quality
jewelry", and to this day we still enjoy repairing or altering your favorite
pieces as well as the restoration of heirloom or estate jewelry.
And don't forget our hand engraving! Engraving by hand was
described to me as a "lost art" when I first learned of it in 1972. It is
indeed a beautiful art form that is rarely practiced today. It is the reason I
was first drawn to the jewelry profession. Compared to the machine engraving
that is now common, our work is done using hand held gravers that actually make
graceful and flowing incisions. Since the design to be engraved is laid out and
cut by hand, the customer does not encounter the restrictions in design that is
typical of machine engraving. Hand engraving is the perfect way to create a
truly personalized piece of jewelry such as signet rings, ID bracelets,
pendants or charms.
If you're interested in a dynamic
jewelry store with a calm and realisticapproach to the jewelry and services
offered, you owe it to yourself to visit our store. Our goal is to first earn
your trust and then your patronage. You'll receive jewelry that is beautiful
and long lasting and we'll remain happily involved with our craft.
